Dr. Melissa Board grew up in Snohomish County as an active member in 4-H, FFA, and the Junior Holstein Association, showing both dairy cattle and horses. She is a strong supporter of these programs, as they had such a huge influence on her life.
Dr. Board completed her Animal Science Degree with a poultry emphasis at Oregon State University, where she lived and worked at the university dairy farm. From there, she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. While in veterinary school, Dr. Board spearheaded research to help veterinarians better serve our backyard chicken patients.
Dr. Board truly loves caring for all creatures big and small, but has a special place in her heart for livestock species, which include chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, pigs, alpacas, llamas, and cows.
Dr. Board and her husband love living on the peninsula and taking advantage of all the Puget Sound has to offer! They enjoy clamming, fishing, and crabbing in their spare time. And of course, spending time with their two cats, Ming and Morty.
